My Career Choice - 830 Words

One of the most important decisions in my life is to choose a career that I will enjoy and find interesting for many years ahead. It is important that I have the ability to provide well for myself and future family. In an effort to stay current in the marketplace, I am committed to keeping an open mind as career paths change, and dedicating time for continued education. I believe that my career choices for the future greatly depend upon the knowledge that I have of myself, information regarding my career options, testing field work, and making deliberate decisions now. Success in this endeavor will depend upon a quality analysis of these aspects, and the proper application of that knowledge. Makeup artistry requires specialized training, visual imagining, and hours of practice. Cosmetic chemistry requires a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, laboratory experience, and attention to detail. An executive assistant to a CEO has to be proficient at organizing and scheduling, as well as competency in basic business practices. The strengths that I have for these fields of work are experience, creativity, and a hard work ethic. Based upon what I know of myself, a potential limitation for success in these careers is having a perfectionistic attitude. The impact of this type of thinking can make tasks more time consuming than necessary and more stressful. Current efforts to achieve my career goals have centered around the activities of ballroom dancing and makeup artistry. My educational work this semester is focused on chemistry and English. The greatest objective that I have set for myself is having a commitment to helping or teaching others. Within my five career opportunities, I can provide a service that will be meaningful to me and other individuals. Testing career possibilities through job shadowing, teaching, and practicing with others are experiences that will help me to understand the needs of individuals in that career field.
